This Time Next Year
January 25, 2010 in music, pop, punk by admin
If you miss the old days of listening to bands wearing vans with tall striped socks and dickie shorts, bands with fauxhawk’ed drummers and beardless guitarists who vertically hop to their own power-chords, then you might want to listen up.
The Bay Area band This Time Next Year, has heard your cries.
They also spring from a youth of Blink 182, Taking Back Sunday, and Senses Fail. Bringing new life into a stale genre, This Time Next Year, simply wants to play music they like regardless of where current trends are headed. “We tried to do what the bands we grew up with did,” says frontman Pete Dowdalls humbly. “And that’s to just make music. If people like it, awesome.” Well, people are liking it. These guys are not just a rehash of early 2000’s pop-punk with their sometimes three-part vocals complementing nicely their thick guitar riffs and fast drum lines.
This Time Next Year recently released their third album “Road Maps and Heart Attacks”. They are also currently on tour in the U.S. winning fans old-school style: bringing their brand of decent rock-n-roll into a town near you. If you get the chance, put on your vans and go check them out.
